Google Earth plug-in now works in Firefox 3!

by mickey on June 22, 2008

I didn’t expect to see it on a Sunday, but Google has updated the Google Earth plug-in to work with Firefox 3.  The cool thing is that you don’t even need to update the plug-in — some server-side tricks are what make it work.

I haven’t seen an official announcement yet, but it was revealed in this Google Group thread.  My previously non-working version is now fully functional, so apparently it’s live.

Now you can go play with ShareIt, or Monster Milktruck or anything else that you want using Firefox 3.

I’ve been dying to play these things and try and make something myself, but unfortunately I’m on a mac and have so far been shut out :(

I know, it’s quite a shame there’s still no Mac/Linux version. I’m thinking August for those, but who knows…

I’m sorry to hear it’s running so slowly. A few questions:

- How many do you have open at once? We recent post with the “Top 5 ways…” has a handful of them embedded at once, which slows them down.
- What other Firefox plugins are you using?

Most of the feedback I’ve heard has been positive, and my experience has mirrored that.
